Palettes

Palettes are the color sets used across your report charts. The colors you see on bar charts, line charts, and other chart types all come from the active palette. You can assign a palette to a theme so it becomes the default for every new chart card you create, or apply a different palette to individual chart cards as needed.

Built-in Palettes

Jepto comes with 5 built-in palettes ready to use:

Jepto — purples, blues, and pinks that reflect Jepto's brand colors
Inferno — warm tones that go from gold and orange through to deep red
Sequential — a gradient of blues from dark navy to light sky, great for single-metric charts
Ocean — deep indigos and purples with rich blue tones
Vibrant — a bold mix of blue, green, pink, yellow, and purple for high-contrast charts

Built-in palettes are locked and cannot be edited, but you can create your own custom palettes alongside them.

Creating a Custom Palette

To create a new palette, go to Reports in the left sidebar and click the Palettes tab. Click the + button in the top right to add a new palette.

You can define colors for both Light Mode and Dark Mode separately, so your charts look great regardless of how the report is viewed. Once saved, your custom palette will appear in the palette list alongside the built-in ones.

Applying a Palette to a Theme

When you assign a palette to a theme, it becomes the default palette for every new chart card created under that theme. This keeps your reports visually consistent without having to set colors on each card individually.

To assign a palette to a theme, go to the Theme tab and select the palette you want to use as the default.

Applying a Palette to a Chart Card

You can also set a palette on a specific chart card when editing a report. Select a chart card and open the Palette tab in the card settings.

From here you have two options:

Turn on Use Report Theme Palette to have the card follow the palette set in your theme automatically
Turn it off to pick a different palette for that specific card from the dropdown

This is useful when you want one chart to stand out or use a different color scheme from the rest of the report.
