Create a Data Studio Report for Google Business Profile

To create a Data Studio report for Google Business Profile (Formerly Google My Business) data we fetch your data daily and store it in Google BigQuery so its always available, fast and you only pay for the locations you choose.

1. Create a Pipeline

This step is broken into two different parts, the Source (which will be your Google Business Profile Locations) and step 2 the Destination, which will be Google BigQuery.

Navigate to the create Pipeline page (https://app.jepto.com/pipelines/create)
Click on the data source selector to open the connection draw
Choose Google Business Profile from the 'Data Source' dropdown
If you haven't already, add your Google Account that has access to your Google Business Profile locations
Select the Locations that you want to report on.
Note: Each location utilizes 1 Data Warehouse Credit. During the free trial you will have 10 Data Warehouse Credits to utilize, so you can sync up to 10 locations. If you would like more than this you will need to subscribe to a plan and purchase additional credits.
Set the Timezone of the locations to allow for correct data

2. Set the Pipeline destination

Click on the destination selector to open the connection draw
If you don't already have your own Google Cloud Platform Account choose the 'Google BigQuery (Managed)' option.
NOTE: When you select the Managed option we create you a Google Cloud Platform Project and absorb all costs and maintenance.
Add each user/email that you want to grant access to the data, this should be the email address (Google Account) that you will use to create a Data Studio report. If the email address you need is not in the list, please add it as a user as the list only contains users who have accepted invites.
NOTE: You can edit a Pipeline after creation, so if you need to add another email which isn't already a user you can create the pipeline first.
Choose a data center that is closest to you

3. Create a Data Studio Report

If you already have a report that you would like to add the Google Business Profile data to, go to Step 4.

To create a new report using our default template please follow these steps:

Go to the Data Warehouse page to view your pipelines https://app.jepto.com/pipelines
Click on 'View' of the pipeline you wish to create a report with
Click on 'Create Data Studio report' and the report will load in a new window
Click the button 'Edit and Share' and then 'Acknowledge and save' (This process will add BigQuery as the data source behind the scenes for you)
Adjust the report as necessary

4. Add data to an existing report

To add your Google Business Profile data to an existing Data Studio, you will need to connect to Big Query.

Open your report and click on 'Add Data' in the main menu
Select the 'BigQuery Connector'

3. Select 'My Projects' and you should see a Project with the same name as your Jepto Account. If you don't see this, ensure that you have granted access to the Google Account that you are using in Data Studio.

4. Select the Dataset and Table. If you have multiple pipelines(i.e. datasets), see the next section.

📍Ensure that you tick the box for 'Use date as date range dimension' as this allows your Data Studio chart dates to be used when querying BigQuery which ensures that reports load as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Multiple Pipelines (Choosing the right Dataset)

Each Pipeline in Jepto will create a new Dataset within BigQuery. It's best practice to create pipelines per customer to ensure that data is separated and gives you the best performance. As each dataset has a unique ID you will need to refer back to your Jepto pipeline details view to get the corresponding dataset ID. To get the ID, navigate to the pipelines page and then click on 'View'. Then underneath the graph expand the 'Destination Details' section to reveal the Dataset Name.

💡 Pro Tip: If you hover over the Dataset name a copy icon will appear to easily get the value.

Once connected to the Big Query table, the report creation process is the same as any other connector you have previously used.
