Email Template

Every brand in Jepto has its own email template — the email your clients receive when you share a report. Edit it in a drag-and-drop builder, drop in merge tags so each send is personalized, preview it as a real client, and send yourself a test before it goes out.

Where to find it

Go to Reports → Branding.
On a brand row, click VIEW to open the brand drawer.
Open the Email Template tab.

Every brand starts with Jepto’s default template, so there is a working email from day one. The Email Template column in the branding table shows Default until you save an edit, then Custom.

Branding is available on the Starter plan and above. The built-in Jepto brand is read-only — to edit a template, create your own brand. See Branding.

Editing the template

Click Edit email to open the full-screen builder. Drag blocks in from the sidebar — text, images, buttons, dividers — and edit content directly on the canvas.

Three actions sit in the builder header:

Save — saves your work and keeps the builder open.
Save & close — saves and returns you to the drawer, where the preview refreshes.
Discard — closes without saving anything since your last save.

The first time you save, the brand’s template switches from Default to Custom.

Merge tags

Merge tags are placeholders that Jepto fills in with real values when the email is sent, so one template covers every client and every report. Insert them from the Merge tags picker in the builder.

Client name — the client the report belongs to
Report name — the report being shared
Date range — the reporting period
Brand name — the brand sending the email
Sender name — the sender configured on the brand
Custom message — the note added when the report is shared
Report URL — the link to the live report

Use Report URL for your call-to-action button. Select the button, then set its link to the Report URL merge tag rather than pasting a fixed address. Jepto resolves it to the correct report for each recipient at send time — a hard-coded URL would send everyone to the same report.

Previewing as a client

The preview in the drawer renders your template with sample values in place of the merge tags, so you can see the finished email rather than raw placeholders.

Use the Preview as a client dropdown to swap in a specific client’s details. The list has a search box if you have a lot of clients. When the template has been customized, the last edit date appears under the dropdown.

Sending a test email

Click Send a Test Email.
Enter up to 5 recipient addresses, separated by commas.
Click Send test Email.

The test uses sample merge-tag values, so it shows the layout rather than real client data. Send one to yourself and check it in the mail clients your clients actually use — rendering varies between Gmail, Outlook, and Apple Mail.

If the brand’s email records haven’t verified yet, the test still arrives, but from the fallback @jepto.com address instead of your own domain.

Resetting to the default

Click Reset email to discard your customizations and go back to Jepto’s default template. The button is only available once a template has been customized, and the reset cannot be undone — the branding table returns to Default.

Sending from your own domain

The template controls how the email looks. Who it comes from is set on the other tabs of the same brand:

On Email Config, add every DKIM record listed — all of them are required.
Click Verify Setup. DNS can take up to an hour to propagate.
Save a sender address, for example reports@yourbusiness.com.

Until those verify, report emails send from @jepto.com and are more likely to be filtered as spam. Full DNS steps are in Branding.

Tips

Keep the email short — a greeting, the highlights, and a clear button to the live report. The detail belongs in the report itself.
Watch the length. If your design gets large, the builder warns you that Gmail may clip messages over ~102KB. Clipped emails hide everything below the cut, including your button.
Always link the CTA with the Report URL merge tag, never a pasted address.
Use Save as you go on a long edit rather than relying on one save at the end.
Preview as a client with a long company name to check nothing wraps awkwardly.

FAQ

Can I have more than one template per brand?
‍Not currently — one template per brand. Create separate brands if you need different email designs.

Do my edits affect reports I’ve already shared?
‍The template applies to emails sent from that point on. Reports already delivered aren’t resent.

Why does my test email come from @jepto.com?
‍The brand’s email authentication records haven’t verified yet. Add the DKIM records and click Verify Setup — see Branding.

Can I edit the built-in Jepto brand’s template?
‍No. It’s read-only, with Edit email and Send a Test Email disabled. Create your own brand to customize.

Can I undo a reset?
‍No. Resetting discards the custom template permanently, so make sure you want the default back before you confirm.

How do I change how the report itself looks?
‍That’s the theme, not the email. See Create Theme and Report Settings.
